At its meeting of
SENSE
OF THE SENATE RESOLUTION
HONORING
AND THANKING DR. SALLY VEREGGE FOR HER SERVICE TO THE SENATE AND TO THE
UNIVERSITY
Whereas, Dr. Sally Veregge has been an Academic
Senator for many years, and assumed
many leadership responsibilities, including the chairmanship of the Organization and
Government Committee, and
Whereas, Dr. Veregge served as Chair of the
Academic Senate for the 2005-2006 academic
year, and
Whereas, When the Senate, due to unforeseen
circumstances, found itself without a Chair-elect, Dr. Veregge was willing
to step into the breach on very short notice
and serve as Chair, and
Whereas, Dr. Veregge has brought to the work of
the Academic Senate broad and deep
knowledge of the university, along with excellent judgment, ethical behavior,
fairness, honesty, integrity and carefully deliberative leadership, and
Whereas, She has led the Academic Senate and
the University as a whole during the initial stages of an important
strategic planning initiative, and
Whereas, She has served as Senate Chair during a
period where the University is undergoing
a full review by its accrediting agency, and
Whereas, She has been a
strong advocate for the principles of non- discrimination and inclusion,
therefore be it
Resolved That the Academic Senate of San José
State University thank and commend Dr. Sally Veregge for her
willingness to take on the task of Chair
on short notice and be it further
Resolved
That the Academic Senate of San
José State University congratulate, thank and
commend Dr. Sally Veregge for her exemplary leadership.
