GRADUATE STUDENT ADVISEMENT POLICY

F 75-3

WHEREAS, All graduate students need assistance in developing their individual study programs to comply with CSUC, University, school and departmental requirements for degrees and credentials; and inadequate academic advisement leads to such consequences as additional semesters being required to complete a degree program; and

WHEREAS, The basic responsibility for academic advisement should reside in the area having the closest contact with the student; now therefore be it



RESOLVED: That each University school, academic department or program offering graduate degrees or credential programs shall design an advisement plan best suited to the needs of its students; and be it further

RESOLVED: That such plan be coordinated in cooperation with the Dean of the School and with the Dean of Graduate Studies; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the faculty assigned graduate advisement responsibilities shall prepare current, accurate information on degree and credential requirements which shall be accessible to both currently enrolled and prospective students; and be it further

RESOLVED: That according to University guidelines, workload adjustment may be granted where appropriate to faculty persons assigned graduate advisement responsibilities.
