  • The Academic Senate met on March 12, 2012.  Two policy recommendations were approved and are pending approval by the President, AS 1470, will be S12-1, Faculty Office Hours, and AS 1471, will be S12-2, Faculty Personnel Records.  It was determined that the Senate did not need a policy to amend its own standing rules and AS 1473, Modifies Standing Rule 9A, Addition of the Chair of UCCD on the List of Individuals to be Recognized by the Chair of the Senate, was approved.  Three resolutions were brought to the Senate for first readings and will return for a final reading at the April or May Senate meetings.  AS 1475, Bringing San Jose State University Policies into Compliance with Federal Regulations regarding the definition of the credit hour (First Reading), AS 1474, Senate Management Resolution, AUTEC Committee, and AS 1476, Policy Recommendation, Appropriate Use of the SJSU Logo.  These policy recommendations will be brought back to the Senate for final readings this spring. 

  • The Senate passed one Sense of the Senate Resolution, SS-S12-2, Honoring and Thanking Senator Ted Norton for his Service to the Senate and the University.

    • The Committee on Committees has drafted a FAQ of Frequently Asked Questions about joining Academic Senate Committees.

    Recent Senate Policies

    Following are some recent policies passed by the Senate in Fall 2011/Spring 2012 and signed by President Qayoumi  thereby becoming university policy:

    • F11-1, Policy Recommendation, Frosh Housing Requirement at San Jose State University (note:  this policy was not signed by the president and was returned for modification)
