At its meeting of June 2, 1966 the Academic Council adopted the following policy on Active
Duty for Military Training*

ACTIVE DUTY FOR MILITARY TRAINING
(TEMPORARY ACTIVE DUTY NOT TO EXCEED 30 DAYS)

Faculty members ordinarily shall arrange to perform active duty for military training at times
other than when they have college assigned responsibilities.
Where orders to active duty for training are issued by competent authority for a period of time
during which the faculty member has college-assigned responsibilities there shall be an
endorsement signed by the issuing officer which states that it is not possible for the reserve
member to perform his training duty at a time when he does not have college assigned
responsibilities.
In the absence of such an endorsement, faculty members who can show to the satisfaction of the
School Dean that their responsibilities will be met may be permitted to accept orders to active
duty for training for a period of time during which the faculty member has college assigned
responsibilities.
*Temporary active duty not to exceed 30 days.
