At its meeting of May 14, 1990, the Academic Senate approved the following Policy Recommendation presented by Martha Thompson for the Executive Committee.

AT-LARGE COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

Whereas, After vigorous efforts to recruit faculty from the appropriate units to fill vacancies on Academic Senate committees have been made to no avail, be it

Resolved, That after the fourth week of instruction if committee vacancies still exist, such allocations be designated "at large" for a one year period, and that the Committee on Committees, with the approval of the Executive Committee, fill such seats, and be it further

Resolved, That a process for such appointments shall be developed by the Committee on Committees for approval by the Academic Senate.
