At its meeting of March 2, 1998, the Academic Senate approved the following Policy Recommendation presented by James Brent for the Organization and Government Committee.Action by the University President:

Whereas, Better communication
is needed between the Senate and Associated Students
regarding student staffing of the Senate and its committees, and
Whereas, The Committee on
Committees is the body responsible for staffing Senate
committees, therefore be it Resolved, That the By-Laws of the Academic
Senate
be modified as follows:
4.1 The Committee on Committees shall be composed of:
a) The Senate Secretary serving as Chair of the Committee on Committees who shall be a member of the Academic Senate, elected annually by the Senate, andAppointments to the Committee on Committees shall be recommended by the elected members of the Executive Committee and approved by the Senate. Members (other than the Chair and the Associated Students president) shall serve for staggered two-year terms.b) One member from each of the representative units from which faculty representatives are elected, who shall be faculty entitled to vote in their respective units, but not members of the Senate, and
c) The president of the Associated Students, or his/her designee.
