SSC Open House The Student Services Center (SSC) is celebrating our Spartans by hosting our sixth annual Open House. Come enjoy refreshments, meet the staff and learn more about how we serve over 120,000 students and prospective students each year. Oct. 5, Student Services Center, 2pm - 4pm
Study Smarter, Not Harder: Study Strategies  Good study habits are the right habits to keep as college students. Come to this workshop to learn more about the best way you should be studying for your classes. Mentors will also share their individual tips and techniques on how they study for their classes.  Oct. 5, SSC 603, 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Test Taking Tips  This workshop provides tips and strategies to help you feel prepared for college tests. From the differences between high school and college tests, to the techniques we offer to be successful at test taking, we'll emphasize the little things that matter in your preparation and ability to take tests. Managing Time in College

A workshop on how to keep up with managing your time in college. Planning out homework, work, sleep, and other activities ahead of time.

Prework: Please bring printed versions of the syllabus for all of your classes. Write one paragraph of how well you think you are currently managing your time.

Suppress the Stress: Stress Management  There is no doubt that college students have a lot on their plate, with classes, working, and social life. You will learn what stress looks like for you. With a better understanding of your own stress, you can learn coping techniques and take control.  We will guide you to draw your own bridge between ‘stressed’ and ‘relaxed.’  Oct. 18, SSC 601, 1:30pm - 2:30pm
There's No 'I' in 'Team': Working in Groups Most college students despise working in groups, and groan at the word “group project.” However, learning to efficiently work in groups is a valuable life skill because most jobs require us to work with other people. In this workshop, you will recognize the benefits to productively working with a group, while learning strategies on how to work as a team to achieve everybody’s end goal.  Oct. 23, SSC 601, 3pm - 4pm 
Motivational Mondays Old habits die hard? Not until you’ve mastered the ‘Habit Loop’. Based on the bestseller by Charles Duhigg, this workshop will empower you to develop positive habits and stay motivated not only on a Monday but on everyday of a busy semester. Scholar for the Dollar: Applying for Scholarships Come and join us in this workshop that presents a step-by-step master plan on how to apply for scholarships. You will learn tips and tricks that can potentially assist you in receiving a scholarship.
