Summer 2015 Major Advising
From July 1st to August 20th, Dr. Carlos Garcia is available for major advising on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30AM to 12:30PM and Wednesdays from 1PM to 3PM in the Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Department Office (DMH 241). If you would like to schedule an advising appointment, please send an email to email@example.com with your reason for the meeting and your SJSU ID.

- "My Academics" Homepage (print screen)
- Course History (via "My Academics")
- Unofficial transcripts from SJSU
- Unofficial transcripts from previous college(s) OR print a copy of the "Transfer Credit" report from MySJSU "My Academics" section

Sociology Capstone Permission Codes for Fall 2015
If you are scheduled to graduate in Fall 2015 and plan to register for SOCI 181B, you must request a permission code. Eligible students should have already taken SOCI 104 and SOCI 105 prior to Fall 2015. If you only have one of these courses left to take, you may concurrently enroll in that course and SOCI 181B in Fall 2015. Sign up here to request a permission code for SOCI 181B in Fall 2015.
May 2015 Department of Sociology and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Graduation Ceremony
The department graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, May 22nd, 2015 at 11am in Morris Dailey Auditorium. Eligible students are those with graduation dates in Fall 2014, Spring 2015, or Summer 2015 only. Students are limited to 5 guests only at $8 per ticket. Payment must be made at the time of pick up. Payment is to be made in cash only. This ceremony is in addition to the free university-wide commencement at Spartan Stadium on Saturday, May 23rd, 2015.
The deadline to submit your Application for Graduation and Major form to the Registrar for Spring 2016 graduation is Monday, November 2, 2015. These forms require the signature of the Department Chair, Dr. Wendy Ng. Submit your forms to the SISS department office in DMH 241 at least one week prior to meet the deadline. Be sure to attach unofficial transcripts, course history, and "My Academics" to complete your packet.
There are two new concentrations offered for Sociology majors this year:
- BA Sociology, Concentration in Race and Ethnic Studies
- BA Sociology, Concentration in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
If you are interested in majoring in these new concentrations, please complete a Change of Major form, attach your unofficial transcripts, and submit your paperwork to the SISS department office in DMH 241 for the signature of the Department Chair, Dr. Wendy Ng.
Admissions to Criminology Are Closed as of September 30, 2011.
New students are no longer being accepted into the Sociology Concentration in Criminology.
