About Your SJSUOne Account

What is it?

An SJSUOne account is a University access account available to all current faculty, staff and students at the University. It was developed and is maintained by University Computing and Telecommunications.

What does it do?

You can use your SJSUOne account to sign on to the following campus applications:

  • Campus Wireless Access
  • Students may pick up their Student E-Mail accounts, and set their Student E-Mail password after Activating and Logging into SJSUOne.
  • Other campus applications which have directed you to this web page.

How do I get one?

An account has been created for all current faculty, staff and students. Before your account can be used to sign onto the Wireless network, you must activate it by clicking the Launch the SJSUOne Application link. Notice that you must be on the campus network (wired or guest Wireless) to activate your Account (the application is not available to off-campus access).

Why must I activate my account?

We want to save you a trip to University Computing, University HelpDesk or other places you used to go to pick up a computing account. The activation process only takes a few minutes.

What do I need to successfully activate my account?

You will need the number printed on the back of your San Jose State University Tower ID Card. If you don't have a Tower Card, contact the Bursar's Office in Student Services to obtain one. We will also ask you for some personal information to validate your identity.

Is it safe to give my personal information to you?

A good question. First, you will note in the SJSUOne application that the website is trusted by Verisign. That means this well-known digital certificate provider has established that we are who we say we are. Also, the data transmitted by your Web browser is encrypted as it crosses the network, which prevents unauthorized "snooping" of your information. Finally, the information you send us is converted to a "hash" and compared with a hash that Student Services and Human Resources provide to us, thus we can validate who you are without ever having access to your personal information.

What else do you ask to activate my account?

We will ask you to think up a good password. The password must be at least 7 characters and not more than 16 characters long, and must contain at least 1 alpha character, 1 number, and 1 'special character' (such as $, !, @). During activation we also ask you to select and answer 5 Challenge Questions. Should you ever forget your password phrase you'll be able to reset your lost password if you are able to correctly answer 2 out of those 5 questions. Once this information is entered, you will see your SJSUOne 'Profile' which includes your Tower ID, your first and last name (legal name as registered in CMS), the number of days until your SJSUOne password expires. You will also see your campus e-mail address (Employee or Student).

What if I need help?

The University HelpDesk can assist you in activating your account, or can do the account activation process for you if you cannot complete the task yourself (you will need to bring your Tower Card to the Helpdesk). Please see the Getting Help link for more help.
