Common Problems and TipsAt times you may encounter problems or have questions that may affect your ability to activate or manage your account. Here are some common problems and tips that will help. Tower IDWhen we ask for your Tower ID, we are asking for the the 9-digit number which is printed on the back of your San Jose State University ID card. If you do not have a Tower card, go to the Bursar's Office in Student Services to obtain one. You will use your Tower ID as your userid to sign on to the wireless and other applications. BirthdateTo validate who you are, we ask you to enter your birthdate using the pull-down windows and by typing in the 4-digit year. Zip CodeYou will be asked to enter the first 5 digits of your US residence mailing address. Do not enter an SJSU expanded (4-digit department) ZIP in this field or a foreign postal code. New PasswordYou will use your Tower ID and this new password to sign on to Wireless and other applications. The password must be at least 7 characters and not more than 16 characters long, and must contain at least 1 alpha character, 1 number, and 1 'special character' (such as $, !, @). Challenge QuestionsWhen you first activate your account, you will be asked to select and answer 5 questions. Should you ever forget your password phrase for your SJSUOne account, you may reset it to a new phrase if you can answer 2 of the challenge questions correctly. Signing into the Account Management AreaIf at any time after successfully activating your SJSUOne account you are unable to sign on to the Wireless network (or other applications displaying the SJSUOne logo) you may easily test your userid/password combination by launching the SJSUOne application and signing on to the My Profile screen by entering your Tower ID and password. Remember your Tower ID should be 9 numeric digits, and your selected password is case sensitive. Keep it Secret!Never share your SJSUOne account with anyone else. If you suspect your password phrase may be known by others, use the Change Password facility to enter a new one. Never share your full birthdate or Challenge Question answers with others, and don't include them in email to University Computing or the University HelpDesk. We don't need this information to help you with your account, and your message could be intercepted by unauthorized persons. I still can't activate or manage my SJSUOne account! Can I talk to a real person?Occasionally, the data on file at Student Services or Human Resources may not match what you are entering as you Activate your account. Or you may have forgotten your Challenge Response questions. The friendly staff at the University Helpdesk (Clark Hall, First Floor, phone 408.924.2377) can answer your questions and assist with activating or managing your account. To have the HelpDesk activate your account or reset your SJSUOne password you will need to visit their office, be sure to bring your SJSU Tower ID card. |
