6 - Returning Student Orientation

Hi all,

Orientation for students going into their final year of the MSW program is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday August 21st from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.  This is also the first official day of the semester.  Details will be sent later.  At this session you will have orientation to ScWk 298 and your community project, final year of field education, and logistics pertaining to filing forms for your degree, planning graduation, and involvement in special events.

Thanks,

Peter Allen Lee
MSW Program Coordinator

5 - Update Fall 2007 MSW Schedule

Hi all,

SJSU is helping to resolve the ScWk 298 and 280 course restriction problem.  Please try again periodically to enroll; the university should rectify this soon.

Correction: ScWk 270's Saturday section is open to current MSW and post-MSW students.  Please contact Dick Evans for an add code if needed: tmwre@comcast.net

Remember that all field course codes (ScWk 230 and 232) will be managed by the field office and will be distributed later in the summer.

Thanks,

Peter

4 - Update Fall 2007 MSW Schedule

Hi all,

ScWk 222 Section 1 for Fall 2007 is supposed to have Class Code 43611.  The codes were transposed, so the 46311 on the school's printed version is incorrect.  Please make sure you are signing up for the correct course.

Also, the School is working with faculty to finalize their teaching assignments; unfortunately there are no updates for the actual teachers for the TBA sections yet.

Thanks,

Peter

3 - Update Fall 2007 MSW Schedule

Hi all,

Your appointments for Fall 2007 enrollment are coming up.  The Fall 2007 MSW program schedule was sent in a previous message and is available through the SJSU catalog of classes and should also be active on-line.   Please note the following updates and reminders:

All Students

Please consult your MSW Student Handbook for the sequence of courses your should be following according to your field of practice. If you have questions, please contact your faculty advisor first, and then ask me if you still need help.  Please follow the course plans as they are designed to fulfill both School and University requirements for your MSW degree.

Course Permission Codes and "Restricted" Classes

Field.  All field practicum and internship courses have permission codes which will be distributed by the field education program this summer.  Please look for a follow-up announcement later.  You are guaranteed an internship and permission codes can be used during the open enrollment period and up through the first week of class.

ScWk 298 .  A few ScWk 298 sections will have restricted or special enrollment:  Section 1 with me (Dr. Lee) is reserved for those applying and accepted for research assistant positions associated with the 298 special project; Section 9 has 6 slots reserved for students applying and accepted to areas of interest with Dr. Gorman's research; and Section 12 is for those who are completing 298 from previous years.  Students anticipating to be a research assistant should enroll in an open 298 section and not drop until notified of final section assignment.  Students who are not able to enroll in a 298 section (i.e., if spaces are filled) will have an opportunity to add sections in August when we have a better idea of slots needed.  EVERYONE is guaranteed a 298 slot somewhere.  All other 298 sections should be open unless the class is already filled.

ScWk 280 . This course should be open; students have reported otherwise so keep trying and I will also check.

ScWk 270 .  The Saturday  ScWk 270 course is reserved for Post-MSW PPSC students.
