Online/Hybrid MSW Program

The Online/Hybrid MSW program strives to meet the needs of working professionals and students living outisde of the Bay Area of California. The program offers academic courses that are fully on-line, combined with in-person field education experiences. The course schedule is designed for continuous part-time enrollment over a 2-year period time period (i.e., 2 academic courses and a 16-hours/week field education course concurrently through the calendar year). Academic courses are completed online (with asynchrounous sessions and synchrounous sessions usually on weekday evenings), and internships are completed in-person. Internships are traditionally during regular agency business working hours.

Currently our Online/Hybrid MSW Program is only accepting California students and residents. If admitted, online students must be able to study and do their internships in California.

If you are admitted to the Online/Hybrid MSW Program, please expect to do some summer reading and writing preparation, attend field internship fair (if available), and attend a mandatory in-person, one-day orientation session.

FAQs about the Online/Hybrid program

Please consider your interest in the Online/Hybrid MSW Program carefully. An on-line program requires strong time-management and organizational skills, independent work, and comfort with technology. In addition, some opportunities are limited in this program. Specifically, the Aging field of practice and the PPSC Program are not available in the Online/Hybrid MSW Program, and there is only limited availability for the Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program.
