Socrates Café at SJSU

Better living through thinking!

What we’re about

Socrates Café is a gathering of people who, with the help of a facilitator, engage in stimulating conversation about troubling or intriguing questions.  Participants pose questions, listen to others, raise challenges, and consider alternative answers.

We believe that thoughtful dialogue and reflection can lead to better understanding of issues people care about.  We want to inspire members of the SJSU community to harness the “Socratic method” of inquiry, both to discover their own unique points of view, and to find common ground with each other.  No guest lectures by experts, no assigned readings, just a group of curious people working together to get closer to the answers.

We invite you to bring the burning questions that keep you up at night to Socrates Café so we can discuss them, too!
