Interns must have 120 pre-service hours (or the semester or quarter equivalent) which includes foundational preparation in pedagogy including classroom managment and planning, reading/language arts, speciality specific pedagogy, human development, and teaching English Learners.

The Department of Special Education, in partnership with area School Districts, offers a Collaborative Intern Program in Special Education in the following areas:
This program prepares students holding a California Multiples Subject (Elementary) or Single Subject (Secondary) Credential or having met subject matter to work with students with Mild/Moderate Disabilities or Moderate/Severe Disabilities. This intensive program of studies and experiences requires employment in a School District and admission into the Department of Special Education Credential program.
