FAQs
Continuation in the Program
What happens if my GPA falls below 3.0 during the program?
Candidates whose GPA falls below 3.0 are subject to disqualification
from the program. This applies also to candidates who receive grades
of C or worse while taking courses in the program.
Must I retake a course if I do not receive a grade of B or better?
Yes, you must repeat the course, or with the instructor permission
work on improving or completing your work. Notice that this is voluntary
on the part of the instructor, not a policy.
What happens if I fail student-teaching or the directed teaching practicum?
Candidates who fail a practicum once will be given an opportunity
to do better the second time. However, they must skip a semester (to
practice skills, or improve teaching situation) before re-applying
to take it again. Those that fail the second time will be disenrolled
form the program.
What happens if I notice that I'm not doing will in a course?
You should meet with the course instructor, seek recommendations,
and apply yourself immediately to the task of improving. If you have
problems with communication (oral and/or written) seek help from:
- Communicative Disorders and Sciences
- Counseling Center
- Disability Resource Center
- Martin Luther King Library
- Writing Center
