FAQs
Transfer Courses/units
Does comparable courses taken previously satisfy current credential requirements?
Completed professional preparation courses completed at another college or university must be evaluated by our faculty to determine equivalency. The student is responsible for submitting the appropriate documentation to Graduate Studies. Please check with the Special Education staff for details. Courses applied toward a Master of Arts degree are valid for seven years only. Other restrictions may apply. Thus, you must submit a copy of the catalog page of your college where the courses are listed, AND a syllabus of the course(s). You can download the "Equivalency" form from our FORMS page to attach it with you materials.
May I take courses for the credential through Open University?
If you have missed the admission deadline and want to take some courses then you may take 2 core classes through Open University at the 100 level. You can only take a maximum of 6 units to be applied toward your credential but not your Masters Degree. Taking more than that without being admitted is no guarantee of admission.
Are there any specific courses that I can take before being admitted into the program?
If you are in the admission process, you may take up to 6 units
through Open University. Please be advised that you will not be able to transfer Open University for your Masters program. Suggested courses:
- EDSE 102
- EDSE
179
- EDSE 192 or EDSE 107
