Special Education Internship Option
|
Interns must have 120 pre-service hours (or the semester or quarter equivalent) which includes foundational preparation in pedagogy including classroom managment and planning, reading/language arts, speciality specific pedagogy, human development, and teaching English Learners. |

The Department of Special Education, in partnership with area School Districts, offers a Collaborative Intern Program in Special Education in the following areas:
This program prepares students holding a California Multiples Subject (Elementary) or Single Subject (Secondary) Credential or having met subject matter to work with students with Mild/Moderate Disabilities or Moderate/Severe Disabilities. This intensive program of studies and experiences requires employment in a School District and admission into the Department of Special Education Credential program.

| GPA of 2.87 or better | |
| Passing scores on CBEST | |
| Satisfied the US Constitution requirement (Call Lee Clark at Santa Clara Adult School for an appointment for the CTC approved test & study materials if you have not taken courses at 408-423-3500 ext 3531) | |
| Subject Matter Competency by exam (CSET ) | |
| Attend an Orientation Session | |
| Obtain a paid teaching position in one of the participating school districts listed on the District Contact Information page. Note: Not all districts participate in Moderate to Severe Disabilities Intern Program. | |
| Go to SH 107, Credentials Office, or call 408-924-3541 to pick up your internship credential application and information packet, after you have been approved by Dr. Hagie or her designee. |
Note: You must apply to Graduate Studies and apply to the Department for admission. You must be accepted into both the University and Department for your admission to be complete before being able to start the Intern program.
