program has two parts: Level I coursework lays the foundation and
is followed by Level II coursework after the individual obtains a job
and applies for the Level I Credential. Coursework for Level I
Education Specialist Credential: 9-11 units general education coursework
and experience, 15 units special education coursework, 12 units specific
to teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities, 5 units directed
teaching experience (special education). Coursework for Level II
Education Specialist Credential: 12 units in advanced special education
practices, 5 units supervision and induction plan evaluation, 6 units
health class and computer class.
The Master of Art's degree in Education is a 30 units program that emphasizes
special education practices with a majority of the coursework taken in
special education. For more information on the MA program please click here.
