Spring 2009 Omnibus Survey Report

The Survey and Policy Research Institute at San José State University conducted the Spring 2009 SPRI Omnibus Survey March 30-April 10, 2009.  This telephone survey of 408 California adults was conducted in English and Spanish, and included questions on several different topics: consumer attitudes, political issues, and environmental attitudes.


SJSU Student/Alumni 2008 Election Survey

The San José State University Student/Alumni 2008 Election Survey was conducted by the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San José State University, September 16 - October 7, 2008. An invitation to participate in the online survey was sent via email to random samples of 10,000 current SJSU students and 10,000 alumni with email addresses on file with the SJSU Alumni Association.  A total of 1209 students and 1027 alumni completed the survey.

Random telephone survey of 1,010 adult residents of Santa Clara County

The Survey and Policy Research Institute (SPRI) at San José State University was commissioned to conduct this survey of the cultural habits, attitudes and aspirations of local residents age 18 and over. The survey was conducted April 11-15, 2005, administered in English, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health – Bay Area Parents Surveys (2006, 2007)

Random sample telephone surveys of Bay Area parents

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health commissioned the Survey and Policy Research Institute (SPRI) at San Jose State University to conduct 1,796 interviews in Alameda , Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco , San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties with parents of children under the age of 18. Interviewing was conducted by telephone in Spanish and English, July 10, 2006 to Aug. 2, 2006.

2006: SPRI interviewed a total of 1,818 Bay Area parents, including 312 Latino parents and 393 Asian parents.

2007: SPRI interviewed a total of 1,796 Bay Area parents, including 947 parents in Santa Clara County and 433 in San Mateo County . Included in these totals for the two counties was an over-sampling of Latinos and Asian Americans.

CommUniverCity San Jose – Social Capital Survey

Random telephone survey of 658 residents of two selected San José neighborhoods

The 2006 CommUniverCity San José Social Capital Survey was conducted by the Survey and Policy Research Institute at San José State University from February 28-March 2, 2006. Survey interviews were conducted in English and Spanish by phone with randomly selected residents of the Five Wounds/Brookwood Terrace and East Valley neighborhoods.

New America Foundation – Statewide Survey on Election Reform

Random statewide telephone survey of registered voters

The Survey and Policy Research Institute interviewed a random sample of 600 registered California voters who had cast ballots in at least one of the last four elections or who were newly registered to vote. These voters are referred to as active voters. Telephone interviews were conducted Nov. 27-30 in English and Spanish by EMH Opinions of Sacramento. The statistical margin of error for the survey, at the 95% confidence level, is plus or minus 4 percentage points. The survey also included a subset of 376 likely voters – those who had voted in at least two of the last four elections. The margin of error for these voters is plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Transportation Financing Opportunities for the State of California Surveys

Random statewide telephone surveys of California adults

The Survey and Policy Research Institute at San José State University conducted two public opinion polls of California residents to assess their preferences regarding different transportation revenue and finance options. For the first survey, SPRI surveyed a random sample of 2,705 California adults by telephone from January 9 to 27, 2006. For the second survey, SPRI surveyed a random sample of 815 adults by telephone from March 20 to 24, 2006. Both surveys were conducted in English and Spanish.

California Consumer Confidence Survey

Random statewide telephone surveys of California adults

Starting in 2002, SPRI conducted a quarterly California Consumer Confidence Survey beginning with random samples of Silicon Valley adults (2002-2003) and then broadening to a statewide survey (2004-2007).
