Mission and Vision

The Survey and Policy Research Institute (SPRI) is a research organization that operates as an integral part of the academic environment on the San José State University campus.

SPRI operates as a model for excellence in survey and policy research for the SJSU campus, government, non-profit agencies, and business clients.

The Institute provides expertise in quantitative and qualitative research, and specializes in culturally competent, primary language interviewing.

A focal point of SPRI's mission is to provide a site for faculty engagement and student training in applied research design, analysis, and reporting.

As a self-supporting, non-profit entity, SPRI reinvests its income in faculty and student research, campus laboratories, data generation and administration, and the services of faculty experts, research assistants and interns.

Ethics

SPRI is an independent, non-partisan research institute, adhering to the highest standards of professional research ethics.

All SPRI projects must be approved by the San José State University Institutional Review Board (IRB), ensuring protections for research participants.

SPRI is a member of the American Association of Public Opinion Researchers (AAPOR) and the Association of Academic Survey Research Organizations (AASRO), and follows the AAPOR Standards and Ethics guidelines.
