Departments and Services
Associated Students, SJSU works to improve the educational opportunities and experiences of SJSU students, offering services that include child care, printing, campus recreation, transportation solutions, student government, and computer labs.
The Center is a multi-cultural group dedicated to the promotion of women's issues and social change. We are committed to working together to build bridges of understanding the gulfs that divide us as a people.
The MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center provides resources and services for students or groups involved in multicultural inclusiveness activities. MOSAIC collaborates with student organizations, academic departments, staff, residence halls, and members of the surrounding community whose purpose is consistent with MOSAIC's mission, philosophies, and goals.
Through dynamic programming and educational outreach the Resource Center seeks to improve the campus climate for LGBTIQQA students and advocate for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community. In collaboration with other campus programs, the Resource Center works to meet the needs of students to promote the successful completion of their educational goals.
The Office of Student Conduct & Ethical Development enforces the San José State University Student Conduct Code and Student Organization Code of Conduct. It focuses on pairing student development with the appropriate disciplinary sanctions to help students facilitate their emotional and educational growth.
Student Involvement coordinates a wide variety of programs and services that promote student involvement in campus life and provides opportunities for student leadership training and development.
Serving as a campus auxiliary organization created to provide quality facilities, programs, and services to students and the SJSU community, the Student Union, Inc. consists of the Aquatic Center, the Event Center, and the Student Union.
University Housing Services provides supportive and affordable residential living communities that promote academic success and individual development. Traditional residence hall and apartment style living options are available. The Campus Village, a student and faculty/staff housing complex, offers suite and apartment style housing and state-of-the-art technology.
Admissions and Outreach
The Office of Admissions and Outreach provides prospective students and their families with the tools and resources necessary to understand the admission requirements and application process for undergraduate and graduate applicants, both domestic and international.
Enrollment Operations and Communications provides operational support for Enrollment Services and helps to develop and administer communication plans for new students.
The Financial Aid And Scholarships Office provides quality educational financing services to students and their families through consistent, equitable and timely service to student aid applicants at SJSU. We connect students with campus scholarship opportunities and other off campus resources.
The Office of The Registrar is the university repository for all academic records. Functions of the office include registration, processing of transcript requests, verification of enrollment and degree, and other related processes in registration and recordkeeping.
The Testing Office administers the English Placement Test (EPT) and the Entry Level Math Test (ELM) required to qualify for appropriate course work in order to satisfy specific General Education requirements, and the Writing Skills Test (WST) which may be required of all undergraduate and graduate students prior to enrollment in 100W courses.
The Accessible Education Center is a comprehensive center that provides both students and employees with accommodations and services and works closely with faculty/staff to deliver services and promote access for students with disabilities in the classroom and throughout the campus.
The Career Center offers career planning resources and programs to students to assist with identifying interests, skills and strengths; learning about majors and career fields; gaining experience through jobs and internships; and developing tools to launch successful internship and job search plans.
The role of a case manager is to support students who may be experiencing personal, academic, or social concerns. Case managers can work directly with students on various topics by connecting them to appropriate resources and support.
Counseling Services provides psychological and educational counseling to assist students in becoming successful graduates of SJSU. Trained counselors and staff are ready to assist students with a wide range of issues.
The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) is designed as a one-stop resource that plays a primary role in serving the university's community of veterans and military students.
The Ombudsperson is an impartial party appointed to receive complaints, provide information, facilitate communication, and offer conflict resolution between students and members of the university community (faculty, staff and administrators).
The Student Health Center provides medical care and wellness resources to students enrolled at SJSU. In addition to treating acute conditions, injuries, and illnesses, the Center provides a family planning program and maintains an in-house licensed pharmacy, a physical therapy department, a federally certified high complexity laboratory, and an x-ray department.
Transition and Retention Services
Transition and Retention Services is composed of various programs that provide wrap-around services for undergraduate students at SJSU.
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed to improve student academic support of first-generation, low-income and educationally disadvantaged students. The program provides admission, academic, and financial assistance to EOP-eligible undergraduate students considered California residents or AB540 students.
The Guardian Scholars Program (GSP) provides holistic support services for former and current foster youth, wards of the court, unaccompanied homeless youth, and youth under legal guardianship.
New Student and Family Programs is dedicated to helping new students, parents, and family members successfully transition into SJSU.
The Spartan Scholars Program is a fully funded 5-week academic summer experience that prepares and supports students in their transitional experience from high school to college.
