Fall 2015 Applications
The application cycle for the Fall 2015 term is well underway as we process the applications from Transfer and Freshmen applicants. For 2015, we received a record number of domestic and international applications (domestic = 45,063 and international = 1,473) for Fall 2015. The entire team is working diligently to answer questions from prospective applicants, process/evaluate documents and review appeals. We anticipate notifying our admits for Fall 2015 in mid February. The undergraduate international application is still open until April 1, 2015. Please encourage all applicants to check their MySJSU accounts for information, messages and to do items. The best place to refer inquires regarding admissions: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Admitted Spartan Day
The Student Outreach and Recruitment (SOAR) team is planning this year's Admitted
Spartan Day (ASD) which will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 8:00 AM–2:00
PM. This is a campus wide event that provides an opportunity for all campus departments,
colleges and student organizations to welcome our Fall 2015 admitted class. Thank
you to all of the Student Affairs departments that annually host a table at the Resource
Fair. We look forward to seeing you there again this year. More details to come regarding
the Resource Fair and Volunteer sign ups. ASD is successful because of the work and
dedication of many. Thank you in advance for your support and participation.

Middle Class Scholarship
The Middle Class Scholarship (MCS) is a new program initiated by the state of California
this academic year (2014-15). The MCS provides a scholarship (grant) to undergraduate
students with family incomes up to $150,000 who attend UC or CSU campuses. Eligible
students must be a California resident and either a U.S. citizen, permanent resident
or have AB540 student status. Students must also complete the FAFSA or California
Dream Application by March 2. Eligible students must also be enrolled at least half-time
and be meeting satisfactory academic progress standards. The MCS is being phased in
over four years so the maximum amount of the scholarship will increase each academic
year until 2017-18, when the maximum scholarship award will be up to 40 percent of
the mandatory systemwide tuition and fees. The award amount may vary by student and
institution as the award is determined after Pell Grant, Cal Grant and institutional
need-based grants are awarded. The MCS is determined by the California Student Aid
Commission and confirmed by San José State after all other financial aid has been
awarded. Should you have questions or need more information, please contact the Financial
Aid & Scholarship Office at 408.283.7500 or visit the California Student Aid Commission’s
website at www.csac.ca.gov.
Advancement to Candidacy
It is that time of year again when 1st year graduate students must file for advancement to candidacy to make sure they are on track for graduation. The next Advancement to Candidacy filing deadline is April 1 for a December 2015 graduation.
The GAPE office will begin to offer graduation workshops to all first year graduate students starting this Spring semester. GAPE will host two workshops during the end of April where we will present the university requirements for graduation and the filing deadlines in order to help equip our students in their planning toward graduating from their Master's programs. Event details will be available on the Student Affairs event calendar.
Fall 2015 graduate admission processing is well underway. We are open for many programs
and you can find our university filing deadlines here. We are also open for a few programs for Summer 2015, which includes SJSU's very
own Ed.D. program. This new program in Education will be entering it's second year
of existence. For inquiries regarding admissions, please contact email@example.com.
