Admissions & Outreach

Admitted Spartan Day imageWelcome to All Incoming First Time Students

SJSU received a record number of over 56,000 applications for Fall 2015. The campus sent out notices of admission beginning in January, and welcomed admitted students and their families to the campus for Admitted Spartan Day on April 11, 2015. The day was attended by approximately 9,500 students and their families, who participated in college receptions, workshops, campus tours and President Qayoumi’s welcome event. The deadline for undergraduates to complete the intent to enroll process was May 1. Based on these results, we anticipate an incoming class of approximately 3,500 freshmen and nearly 3,600 upper division transfers. While graduate admission remains open for some programs until July, we have had nearly 900 graduate students complete the intent to enroll process. The number of new credential and graduate students is expected to significantly increase before classes begin. Transfer Orientation sessions have already begun, and Frosh Orientation begins this month. Graduate Orientation will be held August 14. Special thanks to each member of the campus community for welcoming our newest Spartans.

Financial Aid

June Information

Fee deferrals have been assigned for eligible students who have submitted all required documents.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) will be run and financial aid holds will be placed on the accounts of students who did not meet SAP due to failing to complete units or having excessive units. Students who receive a hold will also receive a petition form through their MySJSU account should they decide to appeal.

Our first summer financial aid disbursement will take place on June 10 for students enrolled for the summer term with pending summer aid.

Financial aid awards will begin to post for continuing students who have a completed financial aid file for the 2015–2016 academic year.

July Information

In order to receive a Fall 2015 registration fee deferral, students will have to have completed their financial aid file and all requested financial aid "to do" items by July 17.

Graduate Admissions & Program Evaluation

graduation imageGraduation Application Verification

For the spring 2015 semester, the campus received graduation applications from just over 1,600 graduate students. In the Graduate Admissions & Program Evaluations unit, graduation evaluators are ensuring that graduate students have met course requirements as well as completed their culminating experience, which typically entails a thesis or project. During this academic year, 700 graduate students have already earned their degrees last Fall and Summer. Diplomas are now printed in-house in order to save time and increase efficiency. Congratulations to our graduates and special thanks to our dedicated staff who are ensuring that all graduation requirements have been met in order to post degrees for our newest alumni.

Office of the Registrar

Spartan Planner imageSpartan Planner Launched for Fall 2015 Term

Spartan Planner is a schedule planning tool which allows SJSU students to generate multiple class schedules that take into account preferred courses as well as student commitments such as work, cocurricular activities and other conflicts. Spartan Planner provides an opportunity for students to generate every possible schedule in order to maximize course selections and stay on track for a timely graduation. Students can view up to four schedules side-by-side in order to compare options and then import the preferred schedule into their shopping cart. Courses can be added when a student’s enrollment appointment begins. Spartan Planner is available on the Student Center page in the Academics section of MySJSU and an overview can be found here. Thank you to our colleagues in the Student Academic Success Services and Information Technology Services for bringing this new scheduling tool to our students.

Graduation Application Verification

For the spring 2015 semester, the campus received graduation applications from just over 3,500 undergraduate students. Congratulations to our graduates and special thanks to our dedicated staff who are ensuring that all graduation requirements have been met in order to post degrees for our newest alumni.
