Financial Aid and Scholarship Office

Summer Financial Aid Information: San José State offers limited summer financial aid which may consists of grant(s) and/or a Stafford Loan. The amount and type of summer aid students are eligible to receive will depend on many factors, including grade level, need, and whether or not eligibility for these funds has been exhausted during the regular academic year.

How do I apply for Summer Aid? Students must show half-time enrollment and complete a Summer Evaluation Form to determine summer financial aid eligibility. Once you have enrolled in summer courses, visit the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office to speak with a financial aid representative.

Summer Federal Work Study Information: Federal Work Study students who want to work past the spring term will first need to receive summer federal work study (FWS) clearance to work the months of June, July and August. To apply for summer clearance, students must complete and submit the Summer Federal Work Study form (available in late April) to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, as well as complete the 2016-2017 financial aid application process.

2016/2017 Financial Aid Information and Timelines: Students who have submitted a 2016/2017 financial aid application (FAFSA or California Dream Act) should have received an Acknowledgment Letter from the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office via their MYSJSU student account. This letter confirms the receipt of your application and contains important information regarding the financial aid process and timelines. Be sure to contact the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office if you did not receive your Acknowledgement Letter and have already submitted your 2016/2017 financial aid application.

If you were selected for verification your award is based on the completion of your "To Do List" in a timely manner. To be considered for maximum funding, all requested financial aid documents must be completed by 4:30 pm on the file completion date of May 27, 2016.

Awarding for the academic year will begin as follows:

Fall 2016 Admitted students: Beginning in mid-April

Continuing (Currently Enrolled) students: Beginning in July

Seeking Advice from Seniors and Grad Students: Graduating seniors and graduate students, we are putting together a Steps to Graduation publication to help incoming SJSU freshmen and transfers stay on track to graduate. We would like to know what were your keys to success? What tips and resources for inside and outside the classroom helped you have a successful academic journey? Please share them with us so that we can pass them along to the next generation of Spartans following in your footsteps. Send any tips, resources or advice you have, or wished you would have had when you first walked onto campus, to enroll@sjsu.edu.
