Programs
At a time when it is more important than ever for students to gain a better understanding of the world in which they live, International Programs and Services (IPS) a department of the College of International and Extended Studies (CIES), seeks to expand the growing interest in study abroad and intercultural experiences. Study abroad is quickly becoming an integral part of the higher education curriculum. However financial and time constraints hinder access to international experiences for many college students and faculty. Under the auspices of IPS, Faculty-Led Programs allow students and faculty the opportunity to participate in international education endeavors. The programs are also intended to:
IPS has developed policies and procedures for the university to assist faculty in producing and executing safe and successful short-term study abroad programs. The Faculty-Led Program Coordinator works closely with faculty to support them in program planning, marketing and promotion and logistics. For more information on Faculty-Led Programs please view the Powerpoint Presentation by clicking on the link: FLP Information PowerPoint CIES and IPS will be hosting a Faculty-Led Programs Workshop for all interested SJSU faculty that have considered or would like to consider running their own FLP. This workshop will be conducted sometime in October 2012 at a location TBA on campus. This workshop will be in preparation for FLPs running in winter and summer 2013. For further information, please contact: Request for Proposals (RFP) Deadlines for Request for Proposals Due to the tremendous interest in Faculty-Led Programs, IPS has moved up the deadline for proposals to Summer to allow adequate time to develop the program during the off months and to allow faculty to promote their program in one additional semester.
