Pre- and Post-Departure

Students studying abroad for either a semester or year on a SJSU Bilateral Exchange Program or ISEP Exchange/Direct Program, or for a summer or winter session on a Faculty-Led Program (FLP) are required to attend a mandatory Study Abroad Pre-Departure Program.

SUMMER & FALL 2013 Pre-Departure Information:

For all summer and fall 2013 study abroad and faculty led program students, your pre-departure program is being held in the Morris Dailey Auditorium on Friday, May 3rd from 1:00 - 4:00 pm with the Global Spartan Spotlight being held afterwards from 4:00 - 6:00pm.

The Pre-Departure Program will go over topics such as packing, money, cross-cultural adjustment, health and safety, academics, administrative procedures, and more will be addressed. Students will check-in at the door and be given relevant materials to the session and to your time abroad.

The Global Spartan Spotlight and reception are being held to honor all students studying abroad for the Fall 2013 semester, any scholarship recipients, and all international exchange students studying abroad at SJSU for the Spring 2013 semesters! We applaud you and your contribution to making SJSU a global campus!

Students attending a CSU International Program are welcome to attend the Pre-Departure Program, but will have their own CSUIP Orientation on two different dates and two different locations in May of each year. You will choose which session to attend and CSUIP will send you information on these sessions directly.

For those students who will be attending a Faculty-Led Program (FLP), you are still required to attend the Pre-Departure Program even if your faculty leader will be hosting a small pre-departure session of their own. If you find it difficult to attend, or if you have special needs, please consult with the SJSU Study Abroad Office about your options.
