New Student & Family Programs
New Student and Family Programs is dedicated to helping new students, parents, and
family members successfully transition into SJSU. The transition into college can
be a big adjustment and overwhelming, but we are here to help you along each step
of the way.
First Year Math and Writing Course Placement
To facilitate appropriate first-year course placement, the CSU evaluates your academic
preparation in two areas: written communication and math/quantitative reasoning.
The evaluation takes into account multiple factors, including coursework, grades, and scores on standardized tests.
