Environmentally Preferable Purchasing

Environmentally Preferable Purchasing

SJSU can significantly reduce its impact on the environment if we commit to buying with sustainability in mind. All university employees are encouraged to follow these guidelines for Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP).

  • Qualities of EPP products:
  • Durable and long-lasting
  • Energy efficient
  • Contain post-consumer recycled content
  • Water-conserving
  • Easy, non-hazardous maintenance
  • Made using responsible manufacturing fractices
  • Minimal packaging
  • Easy to recycle

EPP Guidelines for SJSU administrators, faculty and staff: General Purchasing Requisitions When making purchasing requisitions, you can include a note under "Comments" to request EPP options.
