Telecommunications Equipment Charges
Departments will be billed for each telephone,
and/or voice mailbox service, monthly
access fees, associated installation fees, equipment
purchase charges via the University's charge back system. With
the exception of major construction or other specially funded projects,
departments will be billed for the acquisition and installation
of telephone equipment. These charges will be itemized on the department
summary reports issued monthly by the University Computing and Telecommunications
department.
Examples of billable installation/equipment purchase items include:
- Telephone wiring and jacks - Each stand-alone
telephone, fax and modem line must be plugged into a telephone
jack at the workstation. If the desired station location does
not have an unused telephone outlet, a new jack and telephone wire
will be installed before the service request to move or install
a new telephone can be completed. A University Computing and Telecommunications
telephone equipment technician must visit your site and provide
a cost estimate prior to the work being done.
- Ports - Each telephone, fax and modem requires
a unique telephone port in the telephone switching equipment. This
port provides dial tone and allows the station to communicate with
other on and off-campus users. There are six (6) switching centers
on campus where this equipment is installed. The port which powers
your telephone, modem or fax line will be located at the switch
site, which serves you’re building.
- Telephone sets - The University supports all (5)
of the basic types of digital telephones, Polycom Analog sets and now offers new ITE 760 and 780 models to work
with the EADS/Intercom Point Span Switch:
- Basic types: ITE4, ITE12+, ITE12S, ITE12SD, ITE30SD, Analog Polycom set, Analog desk set (click here for pricing and picture of each).
- ADS ITE 760 and 780 phones.
- Ancillary station equipment - This category includes
such items as wall brackets, long line cords, long handset cords,
headsets and add-on display panels.
- Database changes - Each time University Computing
and Telecommunications department processes a service request for
a telephone extension or voice mailbox, a database
change charge will apply. In addition to equipment purchase,
an equipment installation charge will apply if a telecommunications
technician must be dispatched to complete the order.
