Educational Opporunity Program
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed to improve student academic support of first-generation, low-income, and educationally underserved students. The program provides admission, academic, and financial assistance to EOP-eligible undergraduate students.
The EOP staff is committed to providing students with support services to achieve their personal and academic goals. Support services include workshops, advising, mentoring, tutoring, and community events.
Guardian Scholars Program
The Guardian Scholars Program provides holistic support services for former and current foster youth, wards of the court, unaccompanied homeless youth, and youth under legal guardianship. The program assists students in navigating the San Jose State University system through access to key campus, community, and financial resources, such as book vouchers, locating year-round housing, and scholarships.
Spartan Global Experiences
Spartan Global Experiences are designed to give students learning opportunities that transcend the limitations of a classroom — broadening their thinking and developing knowledge and skills essential to succeed in today’s rapidly changing and dynamic world.
Every year, the program offers short study trips for students who complete a summer transition program at SJSU (beginning with the Spartan Scholars Program and EOP Summer Bridge 2017 cohorts). These study trips provide experiential learning opportunities and access to international leaders and cultural heritage sites. These customized programs are designed to immerse students in a particular global market and/or theme, thus, leading to deeper cultural understanding, a global network, and life-changing ideas. Each course offered through Spartan Global Experiences lasts one to three weeks and takes place outside of the United States. Participants may choose between the January (Winter), March (Spring Break), or June (Summer) sessions.
UndocuSpartan Resource Center
The UndocuSpartan Resource Center strives to empower all incoming and current undocumented students at San Jose State University. In partnership with campus entities, the center strives to nurture student's educational and career goals by fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment, while introducing new knowledge to the campus community.
