Since Fall 2001, general
education course coordinators have been asked to report on their assessment
activities as part of the continuing certification process. The process requires
coordinators to show that assessment has been integrated into course delivery.
Coordinators are not being asked to deliver large amounts of data to the Board
of General Studies, instead they are being asked to evaluate the effectiveness
of assessment activities and to summarize conclusions they have drawn from the
evaluation of the assessment data. The Office of Undergraduate Studies and the
Board of General Studies have developed a standardized form for reporting
assessment results and evaluation. This form, which can be downloaded from this
page in a Word format, will need to be included in the course continuing
certification package. All packets should have a cover
sheet (.doc) as indicated in the procedures for
continuing certification. A sample of a completed form is
available.
It is anticipated,
that the course coordinator will use data collected from all
of the sections of the course to develop a single response
that is generalized for the entire course. Though
it is not required, each coordinator may want
to develop a standardized format for collecting data from instructors teaching
individual sections.
