Industrial Technology

Mission 

The BS in Industrial Technology degree programs in the Department of Aviation and Technology are designed to provide students with opportunities to develop in-depth knowledge and ‘hands-on’ experience in basic and advanced industrial processes and procedures.

Student Learnning Outcomes

Upon graduation, students will be able to:

  1. Develop in-depth technical skills in either manufacturing or electronics and computer technology
  2. Demonstrate strong communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  3. Apply knowledge of current programming languages to analyze and solve industrial problems
  4. Use skills in team development, dynamics, and management to work as team players
  5. Demonstrate ethical behavior and concern for colleagues, society, and the environment
  6. Develop familiarity and skills in the organization and management of industrial enterprises
  7. Learn about product life cycle and how products are manufactured
  8. Learn to apply knowledge to the planning and management of industrial and service sector operations
  9. Demonstrate leadership skills for a technology professional

Manufacturing Systems

Mission

The BSIT in Manufacturing Systems prepares students for careers in manufacturing – designing and planning processes, supervising production, and managing industrial workplaces. Our degree programs are designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in basic and advanced industrial and business processes, technology management, and manufacturing procedures.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon graduation students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate skills in the planning and design of manufacturing processes
  2. Describe the product life cycle and how products are manufactured
  3. Select and safely operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) tools and other machines
  4. Describe the uses, advantages, and disadvantages of current and evolving material processing techniques including laser machining, electrical discharge machining, water jet and abrasive water jet machining, and rapid prototyping
  5. Select, analyze and use polymers, composite materials, and materials in the design of manufactured products
  6. Apply the theory of computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM), including the computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) interface to industrial problems and settings
  7. Use the principles of production scheduling & planning in an industrial environment
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of materials management including Just-in-Time (JIT) and Materials Resource Planning (MRP)
  9. Apply the principles of Lean Manufacturing to manufacturing and soft systems
  10. Use computers, software, and other advanced tools to solve problems in manufacturing

Electronics and Computer Technology

Mission

The BSIT in Electronics & Computer Technology prepares student for careers in the electronics, computer, and semiconductor manufacturing industries. Our degree program is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge, skills, and practical experiences in electronics manufacturing, microprocessor-based digital and analog control systems, and communications technologies.
