Spatial Art

Student Learning Outcomes

BA and BFA

  1. Understanding of basic design principles, concepts, media and materials of three dimensional art.  The development of solutions to aesthetic and design problems should continue throughout the degree program.
  2. Ability to synthesize the use of spatial perception, Three  dimensional design basic modeling skills, and  fabrication techniques on a more advanced level, both formally and conceptually in upper division ceramic, glass, metal and bronze casting  classes.  The development of exhibition, presentation and installation and digital media skills are integrated into the spatial program
  3. Skill in the use of  basic tools, techniques, and  processes to work from concept to finished product.  This includes knowledge of basic sculpture and ceramic techniques  and procedures in all 3D media
  4. Working knowledge of the history of Art focusing on sculpture ceramics and ancient monument and site art and other contemporary three-dimensional media.

Additional Outcomes for BFA

  1. Artists capable of studio practice and exhibition; a portfolio acceptable for graduate admissions.
  2. Ability to talk about their art and to place their work in a historical/cultural context.
