Admission by portfolio review, one in four accepted. First year review by entire faculty. Advancement to Candidacy Review by entire faculty and peers. Classes in Museum and Gallery Operations. |
Graduate Committee evaluation of Advancement to Candidacy. Evaluation of thesis projects. Successful exhibition records. Professional successes of our alums (see text). |
Graduate Committee meets twice monthly, ongoing evaluation process of each program. |

Ability to talk about their art and to place their work in a historical/cultural context. | Classes Theory and Criticism must be passed with a B or better, Interdisciplinary Critique , Area Seminars, and Advancement to Candidacy presentation required. | Students pass the rigorous Advancement to Candidacy Review and previously mentioned classes. | Curriculum review is ongoing in all areas and within the graduate committee and within individual programs. |
| c. Technical capabilities and skills relevant to area of expertise. | Upper division classes in relevant majors, students assist master teachers in labs. |
Portfolio reviews, frequent critiques, evaluation by student's committee members. The large number of our alums that are teaching at all levels. |
Students that demonstrate weaknesses are passed conditionally with specific requirements to be fulfilled listed in writing, or they are asked to repeat the entire review process. |

Seminar in Artists Teaching Art. Students are required to assist a master teacher two semesters before being eligible to apply to teach foundation level courses as independent TAs. |
Successful student evaluations (SOTES). Teaching Associates are reviewed using the same guidelines for peer review as the regular faculty. Faculty supervisors review the work produced by foundation level students in classes taught by TAs. A large number of our alums are teaching both full and part time. |
Faculty supervisors meet and evaluate. Questions for interviews are changed and modified. Graduate TAs who are not doing well are removed from the job pool. |

Understanding of Arts Community issues in this culturally diverse valley. | Class in Art in the Community, Museum and Gallery Operations Class. | Bestor Art Park project, Circle of Dreams Gardner Community Center, input on the Art Ark housing project, to name a few. | Ongoing discussion or future Art in the Community project, exploration of grants and resources. |
