Student Learning Objectives B.A.

  1. Understanding of visual forms, and their aesthetic functions. Development of this sensitivity continues throughout the degree program, with attention to such areas as design and color. An understanding of basic design principles is essential.
  2. Skill in the use of basic tools, techniques, and processes to work from concept to finished product. This includes a mastery of the materials, equipment, and processes of the discipline in such areas as lighting, use of the camera, film, processing in black and white and color, printing, and work with nonsilver materials. Work in these areas continues throughout the degree program.
  3. An understanding of the industrial and commercial applications of photographic techniques.
  4. Functional knowledge of the history of photography.
  5. Career Development: Ability to create professionally organized portfolios, illustrated hardbound books, professional resume's, and websites.
