BA & BFA

Understanding of basic design principles, concepts, media and formats. The development of solutions to aesthetic and design problems should continue throughout the degree program.

Ability to synthesize the use of drawing, two dimensional design, and color on a more advanced level, both formally and conceptually in upper division drawing, printmaking and painting classes.

Skill in the use of basic tools, techniques, and processes to work from concept to finished product. This includes knowledge of basic materials and technical procedures in all 2D media.
- Functional knowledge of the history of drawing, painting, printmaking and other two-dimensional media.
Additional Outcomes for BFA
- Artists capable of studio practice and exhibition; a portfolio acceptable for graduate admissions.
- Ability to talk about their art and to place their work in a historical/cultural context.
