Dependent Fee Waiver
Eligible faculty and staff employees may transfer their fee waiver benefit to a spouse, domestic partner, or dependent child (see table below). The qualified dependent must be a matriculated student working towards a degree, or the attainment of a teaching credential in the CSU.
Dependent Child Age
Unit 1 | Physicians (UAPD)
Unit 8 | Public Safety (SUPA)

never been married; or
due to a disability which existed prior to age 23.
Units 2, 5, 7, 9 | CA State University
Employees Union (CSUEU)
Unit 3 | CA Faculty Association (CFA)
Unit 4 | Academic Supports (APC)
Unit 6 | Teamsters
C99 | Confidentials

who is economically dependent upon the employee, underage 25
and has never been married; or

If both parents are employees eligible to transfer their fee waiver benefit to a dependent child, each employee may transfer the benefits. Therefore, it is possible for one child to receive both benefits and be eligible to enroll in up to four (4) courses or 12 units, whichever is greater. Alternatively, each employee could transfer his/her benefit to a different child, and each child will be entitled to two (2) courses or six (6) units of fee waiver eligibility.
If your dependent is not listed on your benefits plan, proof of relationship will
be required, e.g. marriage license, birth certificate, adoptions papers, or tax forms.
Enrollment and Fee Payment
Please submit the Dependent Fee Waiver Entitlement Transfer Form (.pdf) (staff only) or a Fee Waiver for Faculty Form (.pdf) (faculty only) form to email@example.com no later than 10 business days prior to your payment due date if your dependent is attending SJSU. If your dependent is attending another CSU, please check the fee waiver deadline for that campus and submit your form to firstname.lastname@example.org by whichever deadline is earliest.
Please refer to the Dependent Fee Waiver Eligibility Chart on the CSYou website (requires SJSUOne/CSU login) for fees waived. Out-of-state dependents are responsible for paying nonresident tuition charges based upon the total number of units in which they are enrolled.
All eligible dependents taking graduate courses are subject to Taxation.
