How do I...?

How do I... Change my preferred Name?

  1. Log into MySJSU
  2. Navigate to Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Names
  3. Click the Edit icon on Preferred Name
  4. Update all applicable fields
  5. Click Save

How do I... Change my primary/legal name?

To process a name change with the University, you will need:

  • An original Social Security Card with your new legal name

Both items must be submitted to University Personnel, located on the 3rd floor of the UPD building.

How do I...  Change my address? 

  1. Log into MySJSU
  2. Navigate to Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Addresses
  3. Click the Edit icon on the address you wish to update
  4. Update all applicable fields
  5. Click OK
  6. Enter the date the change will take effect
  7. Save

How do I...  Change my email address?

To change your SJSU email address, Open a Help Ticket to request the change.

To change your personal email address, follow the steps below:

  1. Log into MySJSU
  2. Navigate to Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Email Addresses
  3. Delete any addresses you no longer wish to have in the system
  4. Click Add an Email Address
  5. Select the Email Type
  6. Enter the Email Address
  7. Click Save

Please note, the Business address will be marked as Preferred for non-student Employees. This is standard and cannot be changed. If you manually change it, it will be updated overnight to re-mark Business as preferred.

How do I...  Change my phone number?

To change your SJSU phone number, Open a Help Ticket to request the change.

To change your personal phone number, follow the steps below:

  1. Log into MySJSU
  2. Navigate to Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Phone Numbers
  3. Delete any phone numbers you no longer wish to have in the system
  4. Click Add a Phone Number
  5. Select the Phone Type
  6. Enter the Phone Number (you may also enter Extension and Country if applicable)
  7. Click Save

Please note, the Main phone number will be marked as Preferred for non-student Employees. This is standard and cannot be changed. If you manually change it, it will be updated overnight to re-mark Main as preferred.

How do I...  Update my emergency contact(s)?

  1. Log into MySJSU
  2. Navigate to Self Service > Campus Personal Information > Emergency Contacts
  3. Delete any emergency contacts you no longer wish to have in the system
  4. Click Add an Emergency Contact
  5. Enter all applicable fields
  6. Click Save
  7. Click the check box for the Primary Contact (only one emergency contact may be identified as primary)
  8. Click Save

How do I...  Enroll in Alert-SJSU?

  1. Log into MySJSU
  2. Navigate to Alert-SJSU > Alert-SJSU Summary
  3. To Add or Update a Phone:
    1. Click Add or update Personal Alert Phone Numbers
    2. Select the Phone Type
    3. Enter the Phone Number
    4. Repeat until all applicable numbers have been added
    5. Click Save
    6. Click the Delete button to remove phone numbers you no longer wish to list
    7. Click Return to Alert-SJSU Summary
  4. To Add or Update an Email Address:
    1. Click Add or update Personal Alert Phone Numbers
    2. Select the Email Type
    3. Enter the Email Address
    4. Repeat until all applicable email addresses have been added
    5. Click Save
    6. Click the Delete button to remove email addresses you no longer wish to list

How do I...  Update my listing in the SJSU online directory?

The SJSU Directory is automatically populated by the information listed in PeopleSoft. If your information in PeopleSoft is accurate, but the Directory listing is inaccurate, please contact the IT Service Desk to open a Help Ticket to resolve the issue. If your information in PeopleSoft is inaccurate, see Your UP Representatives to contact your Employee Support Services Representative.

How do I... Know what bargaining unit I’m in?

Your employment offer letter indicates which bargaining unit you are in, but you can also see the information online:

  1. Log into SJSU @ Work
  2. Navigate to Self Service > Time Reporting > Employee Balance Inquiry
  3. Your bargaining unit is displayed in the Union Code field
    1. R01 - Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD)
    2. R02 - Health Care Support/California State University Employees Union (CSUEU)
    3. R03 - California Faculty Association (CFA)
    4. R04 - Academic Professionals of California (APC)
    5. R05 - Operations Support Services/California State University Employees Union (CSUEU)
    6. R06 - Teamsters Local 2010/State Employees Trade Council (SETC)
    7. R07 - Clerical/Administrative Support Services/California State University Employees Union (CSUEU)
    8. R08 - State University Police Association (SUPA)
    9. R09 - Technical Support Services/California State University Employees Union (CSUEU)
  4. Employees not in a bargaining unit will see one of the following:
    1. C99 - Confidential Employees
    2. MPP - Management Personnel Program Employees
    3. E99 -  Excluded Employees
