Volunteers are often used to supplement staff and faculty for projects or special events. While they are not paid, they are still part of the SJSU workforce and processes must be followed to bring one on board. They may not perform bargaining unit work and may not be appointed for longer than one year. See below for additional information.
Faculty volunteers should complete the Volunteer Statement of Preparation Form (below) and submit it in person or via campus mail to Thanh-Minh Nguyen - extended zip 0021. Once the information has been reviewed, you will be notified as to whether or not a background check is required and when the volunteer may begin work.
Review the guidelines for volunteers before agreeing to bring one on board. If your project or event meets the requirements, proceed with the process. Submit all paperwork to email@example.com. Once the Classification & Compensation unit reviews the information, you will be notified as to whether or not a background check is required and when the volunteer may begin work.
