Dr. Mathur is a professor of urban and regional planning at San Jose State University.
He has close to two decades of experience in academia, corporate sector, and consulting.
His body of work includes one book, more than 20 journal articles and book chapters;
and close to 50 book-length research reports, working papers, conference papers/presentations,
and consulting reports in the fields of urban & real estate economics, housing, public
finance, international planning, growth management, and transportation planning.
Dr. Mathur's research has been published in leading journals, such as, the Journal of Planning Education and Research, Housing Policy Debate, Transportation Research Part A, Transport Policy, Cities, Habitat International, Housing Studies, and Urban Studies. His current research focuses on the following: evaluation of sustainable urban development finance mechanisms, especially land-based finance mechanisms in use in USA and in Global South; estimation of the effects of various policy measures on real estate markets; and ways to enhance coordination between land development and transportation.
