Vanessa Cooper has had a long career in finance and affordable housing. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA). Her role includes developing and managing affordable housing and administering the City’s CDBG and HOME programs as well as managing the successor housing agency and the rent stabilization program.
Vanessa’s experience includes creating housing and providing services for seniors,
families, migrant workers, and special needs populations, including the chronically
homeless, disabled and domestic violence victims. Vanessa previously worked for the
Bank of England, a range of housing entities and NeighborWorks America as faculty
for their asset management program.
Vanessa has a BA from Bath University (UK), an MBA from Durham University (UK) and an MA from San Jose State University. Vanessa attended Harvard's Kennedy School of Government as a Fannie Mae fellow in the State and Local Officials program and is a California licensed Real Estate Broker and Certified RCFE Administrator.
