William Riggs, PhD, AICP, LEED AP
William (Billy) Riggs has worked as both a practicing professional academic and practicing professional for over 15 years, focusing on synergies between real estate, transport, economics and technology. He has over 20 peer-reviewed scholarly works in this area many which have been featured in media outlets including the Washington Post, the Atlantic, and the Wall Street Journal. He also has experience as a real estate Asset Manager for the US Coast Guard and as a local Planning Commissioner. He is currently the Director of Research at Sustinere, a boutique urban consulting firm headquartered in Palo Alto, and an Assistant Professor of City & Regional Planning at CalPoly, San Luis Obispo, in addition to his capacity at San Jose State. He enjoys running, biking and hiking with his family and learned most of his real estate skills "on the job" with his father, helping him manage his own properties.
