/ Activities I
enjoy watching movies, eating different kinds of foods, running, meeting new
people, attending political events and traveling. I also enjoy learning different types of
Martial Arts, including Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Judo. I took Judo as a class at SJSU and
instantly developed an interest in it.
I competed in one tournament so far and won first place. After that I was promoted to a brown
belt and I am excited about participating in future competitions because I am
very passionate about Martial Arts and all of the important life skills learned
through these challenges and experiences. Why
Did You Attend SJSU? I
decided to attend SJSU because it is located in an urban environment, the
excellent reputation it has, my peers that decided to attend SJSU, the
leadership opportunities offered for students, and the importance of diversity
to the students, staff, and faculty. What
Is Your Favorite Class At SJSU? My
favorite class at SJSU was Political Science 3 (Intro to Political Thought),
because it challenged me to be more analytical as well as strengthened my
critical thinking skills. Who
Is Your Favorite Professor At SJSU? Two
of my favorite professors at SJSU are Lawrence Quill (Political Science 3) and
Marc Pinate (Acting). Both of these
professors are amazing because they are passionate about what they teach and are
genuinely interested in the success of each student. What
Are The Highlights of Your SJSU Experience? During
my freshman year I lived on campus and will have everlasting memories of that
experience. I met so many
remarkable people who told me about all of the leadership opportunities offered
on campus for students. Who
Is Your Hero, Idol or Mentor? My
mentor and hero is my older sister Deniece. She is six years older than I am and has
always supported me to accomplish so much more than I ever imagined
possible. She has given me useful
advice when it comes to succeeding in class, my social life, getting involved on
campus, and finding a balance for it all. What
Are Your Plans For The Future? My
plans for the future are to get a Master’s of Social Work or Political Science
so that I can pursue a profession in another country. I want to help impoverished people
overcome adversity and become successful in their lives, because if it were not
for the few that motivated me to pursue a higher education and get involved on
campus, then I would not be as accomplished as I am today. I also plan on traveling all over the
world so that I can learn about different cultures. I am drawn to people of different
backgrounds and cultures because of my multi-cultural background and
upbringing. |
