and leadership involvement. Why Did You Attend
SJSU? Full of beauty and color, What Is Your Favorite Class At
SJSU? You have to take Beginning Self
Defense with Dr. Gong Chen. This
was a wonderful class to learn self defense tactics and practice them with other
people. It’s taught me a lot about
keeping myself safe and learning life-saving skills. Who Is Your Favorite Professor At
SJSU? You’ll never learn U.S. History the
way Professor Underdal teaches it.
He is a very engaging and thought-provoking professor who provides plenty
of laughs to his fellow audience.
My all time favorite quote from him is, “today is your opportunity to
excel!” What Are The Highlights of Your
SJSU Experience? I recently completed a year in
leadership as the treasurer for Community Housing Alliance of Leadership
Councils (CHALC). This organization
is directed by San Jose University Housing Services and resident leaders
(students who live on campus).
Through my time with this organization, I have learned valuable
communication and group skills.
This organization helped me build leadership skills in a dynamic and
challenging environment while pursuing my love for helping communities. It was also a lot of fun planning
activities and events for students living on campus and growing close to the
residential staff. This summer, I
also traveled to a national residence hall conference (NACURH) where I was
regionally awarded with Executive Board
Member of the Year and Student of the
Year by the Pacific Affiliation of University Residence Halls (PACURH), the
region San Jose State Housing is affiliated with. I owe my success to amazing people I was
privileged to work with and through leadership opportunities provided by
Residential Life. I am continuing
my leadership experience for CHALC for a second year as Vice
President. Who Is Your Hero, Idol or The heroes in my life are those who
overcome difficult challenges in their life. Some examples are my parents, teachers
I’ve learned from and friends. All
of them inspire me to push forward and do my best. What Are Your Plans For The
Future? I would like to continue education
after completing my undergraduate degree from |
