International Transfer

Upper division transfer admission is based on college or university course preparation.

  • Upper division is defined as the equivalent of 60 transferable U.S. semester units.
  • Students who are unsure they have the equivalent of 60 transferable semester units should submit official high school/secondary records along with post-secondary work.
  • Four basic skills courses equivalent to those taken in a U.S. college or university:

1. English Composition

2. Speech Communication

3. Critical thinking (logic)

4. Mathematics (at a level beyond intermediate algebra)

  • 2.40 grade point average (GPA) or above, equivalent to U.S. GPA
  • TOEFL or ELPT test scores

Junior and Senior Transfer Admission and Credit

 

Junior (third year level) and senior(fourth year level) applicants must provide work from all post-secondary institutions attended. It is recommended that evidence of secondary school completion also be submitted. In most cases, an original or certified true copy from the issuing institution must be submitted at the time of admission. See specific country requirements.

Final determination of transfer credit is subject to SJSU admission policy.

English Language Requirement (TOEFL/ELPT)

 

Students with fewer than three years of full time study where English is the primary language of instruction are required to meet one of the following minimum test scores:
