At the direction of the Provost and AVP of Academic Technology, the Web Services Unit was created in December 2002. The unit was created to further provide a common resource and a common point of coordination for university pages. Along with maintaining and enhancing the university’s top-level pages the unit is also charged with the on-going support and development of the hosting environment and content management solutions.
The Web Services Unit, functions as the on-campus Web design and Web application development group by providing consultation and production services. This unit maintains the University home page and top-level university Web pages. This unit also plays a prominent role in developing, contributing to and enforcing Web policies and standards on behalf of the Web Oversight Committee by working with various campus entities. In addition, the Web Services Unit provides support, assistance and consultation for the overall Web presence of San José State University and campus wide Web initiatives.
