
Both the IT infrastructure and related administrative organizational chart are quite distributed. Although not particularly important in understanding, a brief overview may provide additional insight that could prove useful in understanding which unit is responsible for a given IT resource.
As a unit of the Department of Academic Technology the Web Services Unit falls under the Division of Academic Affairs and the Office of the Provost.
Responsibility for the campus network, UNIX user accounts, Lotus Notes, and system administration of the university's servers falls on University Computing and Telecommunications which is a department under the Division of Administration and Finance.
Finally, Public Affairs is charged with the responsibility for ensuring that the university's public appearance meets a certain level of expectation and reinforces the marketing and branding of the university. Public Affairs, is part of the Division of University Advancement and the Office of the President.
As you can see San José State's web presence is promoted and maintained only by the collaboration of these individual units all falling under distinctly separate branches of the university's organizational chart.
