Q: What is the Web Survey?
A: The Web Survey system allows you to create a questionnaire that can be accessed and filled out by anyone with a Web browser and an Internet connection. No database is required; survey data are stored in XML format. Survey results can be viewed in graphic summary form or as individual responses.

Q: How do I get an account?
A: To request an account, see the Web Services page and use the “Contact Us” link.

Q: How do I log in?
A: To login, go to http://www.sjsu.edu/login/ and click on the “Web Survey” link.

You will see the login page:

Enter your name and password, then click on the Login button.

Q: How do I create a survey?
A: After logging in, click on the “Create new survey” button on the My Surveys screen. This will create a new, blank survey.

Give the survey a name that will be meaningful to you and click on the OK button.

Q: What kind of questions can I have?
A: There are four types of question:

Q: How do I add questions to the survey?
A: To add a question to a new survey, click the "add question here" link. To add a question to a survey that already has questions, either click the "add question here" link to add a question at the end of the survey or click the "add question above" link to add a question above an existing question.

Q: How do I see the survey results?
A: In order to view the survey results, you need to first stop the survey by clicking on the "Close for data collection" link. After the survey is stopped, click on the "View Results" link.

Q: How do I let users know about the survey?
A: On the survey's home page, if the survey is open, you will see a message like this:
Survey is open and accessible at http://surveys.sjsu.edu/entry.jsp?id=xxx
Instruct survey takers to visit the Website at that address (including the number following the "id=").
