OU Campus Migration FAQ

The following are known problems that can result from migrating content from WebCMS to OU Campus and recommended solutions.

  • No index.htm found or other file(s) found instead
The recommended way to use WebCMS is for each web page to consist of a folder with one index.htm file inside it. If the migration tool found no index.htm file (except for the pics and docs folders), you may need to delete that folder.
  • Images outside of pics folder
  • Images need to be re-sized or replaced
  • Secondary navigation link text needs cleanup
The migration tool was not able to automatically get the title of a page for use in the secondary navigation, so it uses the directory name instead. To clean up the secondary navigation links, check out and edit the sidenav.inc file for the page where the links are showing.
  • Global Container text was copied as static text
WebCMS 7 had a feature called “Global Container” that allowed content to be placed on multiple pages, and edited in just one place. OU Campus has a similar feature, but it was not possible to seamlessly migrate from one to the other. The content was migrated, but it had to be moved separately to each page. You can create a new Web Asset then copy and paste the Global Container content into it. Then, replace the static text with the Asset.
  • All pages migrated, even hidden or test pages
If an unwanted page was migrated, you can delete it. If it is the only page in its folder, it is better to delete the folder.
