Windows XP

If you use Windows XP as your operating system, please follow this 4-step instruction to configure your wireless card.

Step 1

From the Start menu (usually bottom left of the screen) highlight Connect To, then choose Show all connections as shown below:

Step 2

In the Network Connections window, right click the Wireless Network Connection icon, and select View

Available Wireless Networks as shown below:

Note: You may notice that there is an "X" next to your wireless connection. This is expected. It shows that your wireless card is properly installed, but that you have not yet connected to a wireless network.

Step 3

A list of available wireless networks should appear. If SJSU does not appear in the dialogue box as below then you may not be in range of a University Wireless Access Point.

Step 4

Select SJSU and click the Connect button, an icon in the lower right hand corner of the desktop icon showing two computers overlappingshould eventually appear, stating that you are connected.
